Ways of Approaching Therapy

There are various treatment approaches to address issues you may have. These can be discussed with you and together we can make adjustments as your situation and personality style demand.

  • One effective method of treatment explores how you think about your problems and how your thought patterns affect your feelings and subsequent behavior. You and I will work together to establish an open and trusting relationship so that we can identify and talk about your thoughts and find ways to establish healthier beliefs and behaviors.
  • At times it is helpful to look at your interpersonal relationships and the social roles you have assumed in order to assist you in developing a healthier lifestyle. By reducing stress in your interactions with others and learning new ways to cope, symptoms of depression and anxiety can be reduced.
  • We all have experienced difficulties in our lives that have caused conflict. Some of these conflicts may have an early history which could cause obstacles in our everyday functioning. Psychotherapy is designed to help identify and hopefully reduce these obstacles. When a safe space is created and bonds are formed, self-understanding and healing can take place.
