About Dr. Vanderpool

 

Dr. Andrea Vanderpool is a licensed psychologist who has been in clinical practice since 1979. She has special expertise in women's issues and has conducted women's psychotherapy groups for more than 10 years. Dr. Vanderpool also has worked extensively with families and couples. She is an experienced evaluator and provides psychological evaluations for bariatric patients and individuals needing evaluations for other medical procedures.

 

Dr. Vanderpool received her undergraduate degree from Howard University, her master's from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her doctorate from The Catholic University of America. She completed post-doctoral training in the Washington School of Psychiatry's Group Psychotherapy Training Program. She served as an assistant professor in the College of Medicine at Howard University, Department of Pediatrics for 13 years. Dr. Vanderpool has also consulted with treatment centers and schools. In these settings she provided psychological evaluations and psychotherapy to children and families as well as counseling for teachers and parents.

 

Dr. Vanderpool has experience in treating depression and anxiety and has worked for many years with survivors of abuse.
